This section of the website will be dedicated to Home Assistant and Home Automation. I started working with Home Assistant about seven years ago. Currently, I have all of the lights in my apartment on automation, except one bedroom and bathroom. When someone comes into the hallway, it announces through my Google Hub.
Most of the inspiration and configurations for my home assistant come from Jeffrey Stone at SlackerLabs. His GitHub can be found here. His YouTube Channel is here. And, you can visit Slacker Labs here. If I hadn’t discovered his channel and repository, I doubt that my Home Assistant would be doing much.
.As this section grows, I will add subpages describing the various projects that I am incorporating into Home Assistant. For now, what you want to buy is a Raspberry Pi 4 or 5 (older ones will work, but they might be limited in their capabilities). Then, head over to the Home Assistant website and download their base image. You’ll need to use something like the Raspberry Pi Imager or Balena Etcher to write the image to an SD card. If you use the Raspberry Pi Imager, you *might* be able to skip going to the Home Assistant site for the image, and you can put in your Wireless Network information.
