Pats Computer Services began as a side project helping friends online with computer issues. I was asked for help with the same problems repeatedly, so I decided to create a website with step-by-step instructions to fix them. In 2004, I moved to Muscatine, IA, and began helping coworkers with their computers.
In the years since, I have learned a lot about new technologies and beta-tested some of them. I have also earned my General Class Amateur Radio license and found that you can incorporate computers with radio in various ways. Portions of this site are dedicated to Amateur Radio, AREDN (which uses wireless routers to create a network in the Amateur Radio frequencies), and digital modes with Amateur Radio.
I have also begun teaching at a college level, so portions of this site will be dedicated to information about cybersecurity, Linux, Windows, networking, and programming languages. I hope that you will find something here that makes learning those topics easier. And as I learn about new concepts and technologies, I hope to explain them to you here.
